Job Overview

ATL Search Group is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations within a high-volume manufacturing facility.

This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, safety, and optimal performance of all production machinery and equipment. The Maintenance Manager will lea d the maintenance team, oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs, respond to equipment breakdowns, manage departmental resources, and implement continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce downtime and maximize production capacity. T he ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader with direct, hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Candidates must have previous experience working in manufacturing plants. Experience within automotive manufacturing is preferred but not required. This is a demanding plant leadership position that requires flexibility beyond a traditional Monday-through-Friday schedule. The selected candidate must be available to work overtime, off-shift hours, evenings, and weekends base d on production and maintenance needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all maintenance operations for production machinery, manufacturing equipment, and facility systems.
• Provide hands-on technical support involving mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment.
• Diagnose complex equipment failures and assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
• Ensure maximum availability, reliability, and technical performance of production equipment.
• Develop, schedule, execute, and document preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the facility’s Total Productive Maintenance, or TPM, program.
• Establish maintenance priorities based on production schedules, equipment conditions, safety requirements, and operational needs.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and respond promptly to unexpected equipment breakdowns.
• Develop contingency plans for critical machinery and equipment shortages.
• Manage the inventor y and availability of critical spare parts, replacement components, tools, and maintenance materials.
• Monitor equipment performance, downtime, repair history, maintenance costs, and other key performance indicators.
• Identify recurring equipment problems an d implement permanent corrective actions.
• Lead root-cause analysis activities related to equipment failures and production interruptions.
• Support continuous improvement, equipment upgrades, installations, and plant expansion projects.
• Participate in cross-functional projects involving production, engineering, quality, safety, and operations.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with applicab le safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment history, and departmental performance.
• Manage the maintenance department’s budget and cost center.
• Control labor, materials, contractors, spare parts, and maintenance-related expenses.
• Promote the efficient and economical use of plant resources.
• Represent the maintenance department during plant meetings, audits, inspections, and operational reviews.
• Maintain av ailability for overtime, emergency calls, off-shift coverage, and weekend work when required.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Provide direct functional and disciplinary leadership to maintenance technicians and assigned personnel.
• Plan departmental staffing, s chedules, work assignments, and maintenance priorities.
• Establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and work completion.
• Train, coach, mentor, evaluate, and develop maintenance team members.
• Foster a culture of safety, urgency, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Lead maintenance meetings, technical workshops, shift handoffs, and performance reviews.
• Coordinate effectively with production supervisors and plant leade rship to minimize operational disruptions.
• Communicate clearly with employees, contractors, vendors, engineers, and senior management.
• Organize multiple maintenance priorities while maintaining accurate documentation and follow-through.

Required Qualificat ions

• More than seven years of maintenance or technical experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience working in manufacturing plants is required.
• Several years of maintenance leadership or management experience, preferably overseeing complex technical teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and employee-development skills.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with mechanical systems.
• De monstrated hands-on experience with industrial electrical systems.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with pneumatic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience managing preventive and corrective maintenance program s.
• Experience responding to emergency breakdowns and supporting high-volume production operations.
• Experience managing departmental budgets, expenses, contractors, and cost-center responsibilities.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong presentation, mee ting facilitation, time-management, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and make decisions under pressure.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, off-shift hours, evenings, weekends, and emergency callo uts as required.
• Technical apprenticeship, industrial certification, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or comparable professional training in mechanical, electrical, industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ex perience in automotive manufacturing.
• Experience supporting thermoforming equipment and processes.
• Experience supporting injection molding equipment and processes.
• Experience supporting stamping equipment and processes.
• Experience implementing or managing a Total Productive Maintenance program.
• Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, or FMEA.
• Experience with continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, and equipment reliability methodologies.
• Experience working in an international or multicultur al manufacturing organization.
• Knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, environmental, and compliance standards.

Schedule and Availability

This is not a traditional Monday-through-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM position. The Maintenance Man ager must be available to work:

• Overtime as operational needs require
• Off-shift hours
• Evenings or overnight hours when necessary
• Weekends
• Emergency maintenance callouts
• Scheduled plant shutdowns and equipment installations Flexibility and responsiveness ar e essential due to the demands of a continuous manufacturing environment.

Reporting Structure

The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and provides leadership and supervision to maintenance technicians and other assigned maintenance pe rsonnel.
